It’s abominable
Have you ever labeled a word as your ultimate favorite word ever? For me, a high-ranking Dutch word is desalniettemin. Its translation nevertheless doesn’t sound too shabby either. But my all-time favorite English word has to be - drumroll please - abominable.
It’s not the definition that I cherish, but the way the vowels and consonants move around in your mouth when you pronounce this odious word with care. Abominable is a word that huffs and puffs. It has the ability to blow everything away, with a limited use of energy.
It only takes a small effort to express loathing when you say abominable. The B takes care of most of the work. Twice it explodes in your mouth. Like C4. Most of the sounds seem to exist below the tongue and instantly induce drooping mouth corners and a stern expression. It may be a strange choice but nevertheless, when you ask me for my favorite word I’ll proudly say: “It’s abominable.”
